Best Time to
Visit
This safari is rewarding throughout
the year. The dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer
the best wildlife viewing as animals gather around rivers and waterholes, while
the green seasons (March–May and October–November) provide lush scenery,
excellent birdwatching, and fewer visitors.
Detailed
Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Ziwa Rhino
Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park
Your adventure begins with an early
morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe as you travel north through Uganda's
picturesque countryside to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the country's only
protected home for wild rhinos. Accompanied by experienced rangers, set out on
an exciting guided walking safari that brings you within a safe distance of
endangered southern white rhinos. Watching these magnificent giants on foot is
an unforgettable introduction to Uganda's conservation success story.
Continue to Murchison Falls
National Park, where you'll stop at the spectacular Top of Murchison
Falls. Here, the mighty River Nile squeezes through a narrow 7-metre-wide
gorge before plunging dramatically into the Devil's Cauldron below. Feel the
thunderous vibration beneath your feet, admire the mist rising into the air,
and capture breathtaking photographs of one of Africa's most powerful
waterfalls before proceeding to your lodge.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive &
Victoria Nile Boat Cruise
Rise before sunrise and cross the
Victoria Nile aboard the iconic Paraa Ferry into the northern sector of
Murchison Falls National Park. As the morning light spreads across the vast
savannah, your guide will lead you in search of elephants, Rothschild's
giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Jackson's hartebeests, oribis, and
waterbucks. With patience and a little luck, you may also encounter lions
resting after a night of hunting, spotted hyenas, or the elusive leopard hidden
among the acacia trees.
After lunch, embark on one of
Uganda's most celebrated wildlife experiences—a leisurely boat cruise along the
Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. As the boat glides upstream,
enormous pods of hippos, giant Nile crocodiles, elephants drinking at the
riverbanks, and countless bird species create spectacular wildlife viewing
opportunities. The journey ends beneath the roaring waterfall, where the
immense force of the Nile creates an unforgettable natural spectacle.
Return to your lodge for dinner and
overnight.

Elizabeth National Park

Murchison Falls National Park and begin the scenic drive south towards Queen
Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes you through ever-changing
landscapes of rolling hills, tea plantations, rural villages, fertile
farmlands, and the picturesque Albertine Rift, showcasing the remarkable
diversity that makes Uganda one of Africa's most beautiful countries.
After lunch en route, continue to
your lodge inside or near Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive in the late
afternoon and settle into your accommodation, where you can relax while
enjoying sweeping views of the surrounding wilderness and prepare for the
exciting wildlife adventures awaiting you the following day.

Day 4: Kasenyi Plains Game Drive
& Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Begin the day with an early morning
game drive across the renowned Kasenyi Plains, one of the park's premier
wildlife viewing areas. As golden light bathes the savannah, search for
elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, and lions that often
patrol these open grasslands in search of prey. Keep your camera ready for the
park's rich birdlife and stunning views of the distant Rwenzori Mountains.
After lunch, board a boat for an
unforgettable cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel, a natural
waterway linking Lake George and Lake Edward. This wildlife-rich channel
supports one of Africa's highest concentrations of hippos and offers
exceptional opportunities to observe Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes,
monitor lizards, and an incredible variety of waterbirds at remarkably close
range.
Return to the lodge for dinner as
the sounds of the African wilderness accompany another memorable evening.

Day 5: Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions
Safari
After an early breakfast, journey to
the remote Ishasha Sector, internationally renowned for its
extraordinary population of tree-climbing lions. Unlike most lions found
elsewhere in Africa, Ishasha's lions frequently rest on the branches of giant
fig trees, providing one of Uganda's most iconic wildlife experiences.
As you explore the peaceful southern
plains, watch for elephants, buffaloes, topis, Uganda kobs, and numerous bird
species that thrive in this quieter part of the park. The relaxed pace of
Ishasha offers excellent opportunities for wildlife photography while your
guide shares fascinating insights into the unique behaviour of these remarkable
lions.
Return to your lodge in the
afternoon, where you can unwind and reflect on another extraordinary day in
Uganda's wilderness.
