Best Time to Visit
Lake Mburo National Park can be
visited throughout the year. The dry seasons (June–September and
December–February) offer excellent wildlife viewing as animals congregate
around water sources and tracks remain easily accessible. The green seasons
(March–May and October–November) transform the park into a lush paradise,
making it an exceptional time for bird watching, photography, and fewer crowds.
Detailed
Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo National
Park
Your safari begins with an early
morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe. Journey through Uganda's scenic
countryside, passing traditional villages, rolling hills, and expansive cattle
farms in Ankole, famous for its long-horned Ankole cattle. Stop at the Equator
for memorable photographs and refreshments before continuing to Lake Mburo
National Park.
After checking into your lodge and
enjoying lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive through the park's acacia
woodland and open savannah. Look out for zebras, Rothschild's giraffes,
buffaloes, impalas, topis, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, and elands, the
largest antelope in Africa.
Return to the lodge for dinner and
overnight.

Approximately 4–5 hours

Day 2: Horseback Safari & Lake
Mburo Boat Cruise
Following breakfast, enjoy one of
Lake Mburo's signature experiences-a horseback safari (or a traditional
game drive if preferred). Riding through the wilderness offers an intimate and
silent way to observe wildlife at close range, often allowing much closer
encounters with zebras, giraffes, impalas, and antelopes than vehicle safaris.
After lunch at the lodge, head to
the shores of Lake Mburo for a leisurely boat cruise. Glide across the calm
waters while spotting large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, African fish
eagles, pied kingfishers, cormorants, and numerous water birds along the shoreline.
Return to your lodge for dinner.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 3: Morning Game Drive &
Optional Night Safari
Set out on an early morning game
drive to explore different sections of the park and increase your chances of
spotting wildlife that may have been missed previously. The cooler morning
hours provide excellent opportunities for photography as animals are most
active.
Spend the afternoon relaxing at your
lodge or enjoying the spectacular views surrounding the park.
In the evening, guests may choose to
participate in an optional night game drive accompanied by a Uganda
Wildlife Authority ranger. This unique experience offers opportunities to spot
elusive nocturnal species such as bush babies, porcupines, genets, civets,
white-tailed mongooses, and, occasionally, leopards.
Return to your lodge for dinner and
overnight.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 4: Sunrise Game Drive – Return
to Kampala
After an early breakfast, enjoy a
final sunrise game drive through Lake Mburo National Park. Early morning offers
one last opportunity to observe grazing wildlife and capture memorable
photographs before departing the park.
Begin your journey back to Kampala
or Entebbe, stopping at the Uganda Equator for lunch, souvenir shopping, and
photographs before arriving in the late afternoon.
