Best Time to Visit

Queen Elizabeth National Park offers excellent wildlife viewing throughout the year. The dry seasons (June–September and December–February) provide the best game viewing as animals gather around water sources and roads remain easily accessible. The green seasons (March–May and October–November) offer lush landscapes, fewer visitors, exceptional bird watching, and beautiful photography opportunities.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport. Travel west through Uganda's picturesque countryside, passing rolling hills, traditional villages, tea plantations, and the scenic landscapes of western Uganda.

After lunch en route, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in the afternoon. Check in at your lodge before setting out on an evening game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. As temperatures cool, wildlife becomes increasingly active, offering excellent chances to spot elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, and, with some luck, lions or elusive leopards beginning their nightly hunt.

Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Meals: Lunch & Dinner

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Rise early for a sunrise game drive when predators and herbivores are at their most active. Explore the park's expansive savannah in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, giant forest hogs, topis, and numerous antelope species while enjoying spectacular views across the plains.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and some leisure time before lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on one of Uganda's most celebrated wildlife experiences—a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which links Lake George and Lake Edward. This natural waterway supports one of Africa's highest concentrations of hippos and attracts countless Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and an incredible diversity of birdlife, including African fish eagles, pied kingfishers, African skimmers, saddle-billed storks, and pelicans.

After the cruise, return to your lodge for dinner while reflecting on the day's remarkable wildlife encounters.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions – Return to Kampala

After an early breakfast, depart for the southern Ishasha Sector, renowned worldwide for its extraordinary population of tree-climbing lions. Unlike most lions, these remarkable cats are frequently seen resting on the branches of giant fig trees, providing one of Africa's most unique wildlife sightings.

Spend the morning searching for these famous lions alongside elephants, buffaloes, topis, and other wildlife that inhabit the southern plains. Following your game drive, begin the scenic journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping for lunch en route and enjoying the changing landscapes of western Uganda before arriving in the evening.
