Day 1:
Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Depart after breakfast and travel from your previous location (such as Bwindi
or Queen Elizabeth) to Lake Mburo National Park. The journey takes you through
scenic landscapes often called the "Switzerland of Africa," with
terraced hills, valleys, and banana plantations. Upon arrival, check into your
lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where you
can see hippos, crocodiles, various water birds, zebras, and other wildlife
coming to the water’s edge, making for excellent photographic opportunities.
Day 2:
Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kampala or Entebbe
Start the day with a morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park to see
zebras, warthogs, giraffes, impalas, hyenas, buffalos, and possibly leopards.
Lake Mburo is among the few parks in Uganda offering walking and horseback
safaris or quad biking as alternative ways of exploring the park. After the
game drive, begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. En route, stop at the
Equator crossing for a photo opportunity with one foot in each hemisphere. If
time permits, visit the Centre for Buganda Royal Drum Makers to learn about
this rich cultural heritage before reaching your destination.
This itinerary balances active
safaris on horseback and foot with classic game drives and boat cruises,
providing a well-rounded and dynamic wildlife experience across Uganda’s
premier parks. It also incorporates night drives to see nocturnal animals usually
missed on daytime safaris, enriching the diversity of wildlife encounters.
